Still here...
It's been a few months, but I am still trucking along. I'm writing the first draft of chapter 16 and I'm looking forward to writing a battle from a strategic standpoint. What makes my book unique, in my mind, is that I use different writing styles, depending on the situation I'm writing about. I read a battle narrative about World War II a few months back, and it really helped me get a handle on what that writing style is like and how it's useful (or boring). I hope to have this chapter reviewed and ready for my "editor" by the end of the month. Thank you to all who read and follow my posts. I hope to have more to report soon.

Thank you to my informal editor for catching up on my drafts for chapters 7-14 (now 7-13). I now feel that I can put more of the book together and move forward without looking for the mistakes and changes I have left behind. Chapter 14/15 is underway and I'm really excited for the detail and small spins I'm adding into the story. Taking so long to write something means the work matures with the author, and I have to say I am liking the results of growing pains that are evident in this piece of fantasy.
