This year was one of great change. It only makes sense, then, that I finished The Great Shift (Book 3) before I finished Finding Home (Book 2). My goal is to finish Finding Home before the end of January 2019. I will be attending a writer's conference in February, during which I hope to gain direction and insight on how to publish the next books in the series.
This year I left my profession because I was unable to enact the change I desire to make in the world. I thought I had found my social home, and realized that I had not. I am not satisfied with small change: I want to change the world. Realizing that I had more to offer, and more thinking to do, I left a noble career to think. I will now be writing both this series and a new theory. The latter will, if all goes to plan, lead to a Doctorate and a series of semi-fictional stories that detail how I see my theory being implemented in the world.
Phinea is a world that reflects my view of reality. I see great beauty, rare purpose, and general geniality in all people. I believe that if we care for and understand the world, then the world will provide us with insight and abilities that will help us thrive, not just survive. I also see darkness and write on the side of those seeking to stop it. There is so much now to distract us that I find it easy to lose sight of what's really important: who we are, where we belong, and what we were. These three are the corresponding themes for the first, and maybe only, three books of Phinea.
Al Leigh is an up-and-coming author who is bringing universal truths to you through a unique world without night, where mutualism rules the day and Named folk are the only ones predestined to a profession. In this blog you can journey with her through the challenges of writing for fun, and get a deeper glimpse into the World of Phinea than is available in the individual novels.

Writing Time
To all who have been patiently awaiting Finding Home, your patience will be rewarded. I have taken time from full-time occupation to devote time and brain space to the completion of the sequel. The outline has been completed, and the first part (of five) has been written. Here are a few things to look forward to in the follow-up to Lor Banesmith:
- Learning how the world came to have three suns
- Understanding the nature of magic in Phinea
- Family reunions
- Conclusion of the story lines for Ross, Trathe, and the Aegis
I look forward to hearing your feedback and keeping you updated as the conclusion of the writing process draws nearer. As soon as I know when the book will be released, a countdown will be added to the blog page. Thank you all for your support.

Finding Home...and Time
I now have time to keep my fans, and random curious people, up to date with the World of Phinea. Thank you for everyone who read Lor Banesmith, and are waiting patiently for me to write the sequel. Finding Home is now underway, and I expect to finish it some time this summer. Keep checking in to hear about the themes and progress of this work. What I am most excited about with regard to this story is the complete change in story arc. While the first story follows a classic fantasy/Tolkeinian plot line, the follow-up is a more in-depth look at Phinea and the landscapes it contains. I also wanted to wrap up the current story line, so that the world can be explored through other characters in other parts of the super-continent on which all principle characters live.
Buying Lor Banesmith
Thank you to all of my fans and friends who have purchased a copy of Lor Banesmith. I know it took me 3 years to buy some paper copies to sign, but I did it! If you want one of the remaining copies, which I sign and write a note, let me know ASAP.
Hopefully the story whets your appetite for more tales from Phinea.
